WHAT IS PRESTON NIGHTSTOP?

Preston Nightstop is a charity providing "one night at a time" emergency accommodation to homeless young people aged 16-25. This accommodation is provided in the homes of volunteer families. The first project was started in Leeds in 1987 and there are approximately 43 Nightstops currently in operation throughout the UK.

Close links have been established with local agencies that come into contact with homeless young people and these agencies will refer young people to Nightstop if they feel they are suitable for the service.

We are not able to accept all homeless young people onto the service as some criminal convictions may exclude young people from using the scheme.

How can you help us?

We need volunteers to join us. Nightstop volunteers need to make a commitment to provide a bed and meals for a young person one night at a time. This commitment can be from 1 – 7 nights a week depending on your availability.

We also need other volunteers with cars who are willing to provide transport. The volunteer will either collect the young person in the evening and drive them to the host’s home or collect them in the morning and drop them at an agency.

If you are interested in supporting the service in any way, either by being a volunteer host, management committee member or by providing a donation please contact us.
