WHAT IS A PASTORAL VISITOR?
Pastoral Visitors and the Pastoral Team area group of people who assist our Ministers, Rev. Peter Sheasby and Sister Myrtle Poxon, to care spiritually and practically for our Church family.
Each pastoral visitor has a list of people for whom they try to care. This can involve calling on people occasionally (if we can find you in!), speaking to you at Church or maybe a phone call, and delivering the Church magazine.
Ours is a large congregation and we try to make the contacts fit the individual family’s needs. Inside the front cover of your magazine is the Pastoral Visitor’s name and contact number so you can contact him or her if you need help or support. This may be to request a visit, a chat or practical help.
The Pastoral Visitors and Pastoral Team meet to discuss what more we can do to keep in touch and make sure our Church family is cared for in a sensitive way which suits each individually. Peter and Myrtle now have additional responsibility for Brookfield and Ribbleton Avenue Churches so you perhaps won’t see them as often as before, but they are willing to visit in response to a specific request as well as when there is a particular need.
The Ministers, Pastoral Visitors, Pastoral Team and other Church members are there to support our whole Church family. You can help by contacting us when you have a need yourself or when you suspect another member of the Church, or even someone else could use help or would appreciate a visit. With so many people attached to the Church I’m afraid we don’t always notice who has missed coming to worship and so we sometimes need a bit of help ourselves.
If we don’t know what people need, we can’t offer our care and support in a way which encourages everyone to feel part of our Church family.
If you want to ask about any of this please speak to me, or one of the ministers.
