PROPHETS CROSSWORD

This time, our crossword is loosely based on the theme we have been following in Lent both in Church and Sunday Club. That is, the Prophets. How much do you know about them, what can you discover? No prizes, but we hope you enjoy the puzzle.

6) 8th century BC Israelite prophet - the first of the major prophets. His theme - ‘The everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth’  (See 40:28 of his book) (6)

10) Change direction, often in sorrow and with regret (6)

11) Regarded as a traitor and deeply unpopular. Warned of the Babylonian threat and taken by force to Egypt (8)

13) What our behaviour must do if we truly repent (6)

14) The fourth son of Jacob and Leah we are told, whose name gave rise to the names of a religion and a land (5)

16) An 8th century BC prophet who learned from his broken marriage (See chapters 1-3 of his book). Realised that Israel was being unfaithful to God who would never forget His people. His name means ‘salvation’ (5)
